Job summary

WSP is expanding its Ireland Energy business and seeks an Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join the Dublin, Naas or Belfast team. You will deliver grid and primary substation designs for 110kV to 400kV projects, work within a multidisciplinary team, and support FEED and detailed design phases to help deliver Net Zero targets.

You will bring degree-qualified electrical engineering expertise, experience with HV/MV substations, and knowledge of EirGrid/ESB standards, with a passion for

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience on HV/MV substation projects (110kV–400kV).
• Knowledge of EirGrid and ESB standards and policies.
• Experience in AIS & GIS substations and protection/ control.
• Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
• Chartered status or working towards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Produce a comprehensive suite of grid and primary substation design drawings.
• Prepare technical specifications for electrical plant and substation upgrades.
• Produce feasibility reports, layouts, GA drawings and equipment specs.
• Review vendor/ contractor designs for compliance with standards.
• Ensure designs meet contract requirements and safety considerations.
• Support design reviews with clients and project teams.
