WSP is seeking an experienced HV Cable Design Engineer for its Ireland Energy team with offices in Dublin, Naas or Belfast. Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent (Electrical/Power preferred).
• Extensive experience in HV cable design, manufacture and test for HVAC/HVDC projects.
• Understanding of IEC standards and CIGRE policies and related documentation.
• Knowledge of EirGrid and ESB Networks standards and policies for HV/MV cables.
• Experience witnessing third-party cable activities (test, install, transport).
• Participation in or awareness of Working Groups/Technical Committees (CIGRE/IEEE).
• Towards Chartered Engineer status or registered
• Ability to travel as projects demand.
• Strong HS&W knowledge and ability to act as designer under regulations.

Aufgaben

• Lead development and assurance of HV/MV cable system designs from concept through FEED and detailed design.
• Provide technical authority across cable system engineering and interface with civil, primary, protection & control teams.
• Conduct Owner’s Engineer / Client-side design reviews of deliverables for compliance with standards and contracts.
• Prepare and review equipment specs, cable routes, tender docs, and progress reports.
• Perform engineering calculations: sizing, thermal performance, EMF/TMF, sheath bonding and induced voltage analyses.
• Ensure designs coordinate across interfaces and meet programme and client specs.
• Identify and mitigate health and safety risks in designs per regulations.
• Lead technical meetings and design reviews with clients and supply chain partners.
• Support project delivery at FATs, site inspections, and construction oversight.
• Contribute to temporary works considerations and installation methodologies.
• Ensure drawings and deliverables are accurate and timely.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, designers and contractors.
