Job summary

Sheraton Athlone Hotel, part of the Hodson Bay Group, invites applications for the role of Hotel Day Porter. In this dynamic position you will support every department to ensure a flawless guest experience, working with management to exceed guest expectations and maintain the high standards of our hotel.

Key duties include guest requests, assisting with room service and luggage, setting up meeting rooms, conducting safety checks, and promoting hotel services.

Qualifications

• Full flexibility on weekdays and weekends essential.
• At least one year experience in a similar role desirable.
• Outstanding customer care skills.
• Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of AV equipment desirable.
• Resilience and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, prioritising guest care.
• Assist with room service and manage guest luggage transportation.
• Set up and refresh meeting rooms.
• Conduct regular security checks and participate in drills.
• Familiarise with hotel layout and local amenities.
• Observe safety rules and keep materials/equipment safe.
• Report incidents and take action on incidents of accidents/fire/damage.
• Uphold customer relations policy and promote services to guests.
• Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.

Join our vibrant team at the Sheraton Athlone Hotel, a key member of the Hodson Bay Group, as we invite applications for the role of Hotel Day Porter.

In this dynamic role, you will be an essential part of our operations, collaborating with every department in the hotel to ensure a smooth and flawless guest experience. Working side by side with our dedicated management team, you will play a pivotal role in exceeding our guests’ expectations at every turn.

PLEASE NOTE – due to liquor licencing laws only over 18s can be considered for this role. This position requires full availability on weekdays and weekends, days, and evenings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responding promptly and professionally to guest requests, always prioritising excellent guest care.
• Assisting with room service and managing guest luggage transportation.
• Setting up and refreshing meeting rooms.
• Performing regular security checks and participating in fire and accident drills.
• Familiarising yourself with the hotel layout, the surrounding area, and local amenities.
• Observing all safety rules and ensuring materials and equipment are always in a safe state.
• Reporting and taking action on incidents of accidents, fires, loss or damage.
• Upholding the hotel’s customer relations policy and promoting our services to guests.
• Maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene, appearance, and professionalism.

Essential Skills:

While experience in a similar role is highly desirable, it truly matters to us. This physically demanding role requires plenty of stamina and the capacity to move heavy equipment. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
