With continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their senior management team and take overall responsibility for the commercial function within the business.

About Your New Job
As Commercial Manager, you will have overall responsibility for leading and managing the Commercial Department, while providing commercial direction and insight across the wider business.
You will work closely with senior management, project and operations teams, clients, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the successful commercial delivery of projects and the continued growth and profitability of the business.
Some of the key Responsibilities include:
- Lead, manage and develop the commercial team, establishing clear performance objectives, KPIs and succession planning.
- Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with company objectives and project delivery requirements.
- Oversee the financial performance of projects, ensuring revenue, margin and cash flow targets are achieved.
- Lead cost planning, budgeting and forecasting across projects.
- Provide commercial insight and reporting to senior management to support strategic business decisions.
- Oversee the preparation, negotiation and management of major project contracts and subcontracts.
- Identify, assess and manage commercial and contractual risks, implementing early warning and mitigation strategies where required.
- Approve procurement plans, supplier selections and major purchase orders or subcontract agreements.
- Ensure appropriate risk allocation and effective commercial management throughout the supply chain.
- Foster close collaboration between estimating, procurement and quantity surveying teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Support client relationship management and participate in key client and commercial negotiations.
- Represent the company at external meetings with clients, partners, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Directors to ensure commercial and operational objectives remain aligned.
- Ensure commercial activities comply with company policies, legislation and relevant industry standards.
- Capture lessons learned from successful and unsuccessful bids to improve future commercial performance.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement within the Commercial Department.
What You’ll Need For This Job
- A 3rd Level Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a senior commercial/quantity surveying position within the construction sector.
- Previous experience in people management and leading a commercial team.
- Experience working within a regulated industry such as construction, healthcare, pharma or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of commercial, contractual and financial management.
- Experience preparing and presenting financial and commercial reports to senior management.
- Strong IT and computer skills, with experience using a variety of software packages.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- A calm, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- Ability to prioritise effectively and consistently deliver high-quality work.
- High level of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive commercial and organisational information.
