  • Support the wider business growth strategy through effective commercial planning and decision-making.
Contract & Client Management
  • Lead contract administration across a range of complex commercial arrangements.
  • Manage variations, valuations, claims, extensions of time, final accounts and commercial negotiations.
  • Interpret and apply construction and engineering contracts, protecting the company's commercial position.
  • Build strong, commercially credible relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers where required.
Financial & Performance Management
  • Take ownership of project budgets, forecasts, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Monitor project performance against budget, identifying trends and corrective actions early.
  • Provide accurate forecasting and commercial reporting to senior management.
  • Drive improved margin performance, cash generation and overall contract profitability.
  • Ensure robust commercial controls are embedded across the project portfolio.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
  • Identify, assess and proactively manage commercial and contractual risk.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and commercial processes are followed across projects.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear visibility of commercial risks, opportunities and potential exposure.
  • Challenge assumptions and ensure commercial decisions are supported by robust analysis and evidence.
Leadership & Development
  • Lead, support and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial professionals.
  • Mentor developing surveyors and help build commercial capability within the division.
  • Create a strong commercial culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with operational leadership to embed commercial thinking throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements:

  • Strong experience in variations, claims, valuations, final accounts and commercial negotiations.
  • Experience leading or mentoring commercial teams.
  • The confidence to challenge, influence and partner with senior operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to turn commercial data into clear business decisions.
  • A pragmatic, commercially minded approach and the ability to operate effectively in a demanding project environment.
  • A full driving licence.
