Job summary

Apleona is seeking a Full-Time Catering Assistant for our Kilkenny site on Ring Road. The role is 37.5 hours per week, with a rotating Monday–Sunday roster across five days in seven.

You will prepare and serve foods, ensure HACCP compliance, and support staff and students with daily operations. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years in kitchen prep and cooking, plus 6 months in a similar role, and be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen staff and school personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in kitchen preparation and cooking.
• At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity.
• Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen staff and school staff and students.
• Team player with time management and organisational skills.
• Motivated, enthusiastic and reliable.
• Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift as required in the kitchen environment.
• Able to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and products according to canteen recipes, portions and serving standards.
• Fill in to ensure customer service standards and smooth operations.
• Prepare paperwork, forms, reports and schedules in an organised, timely manner.
• Keep equipment clean and in good condition via inspections and maintenance programs.
• Report any violations of company policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP regulations.
• Maintain cleaning schedules for floors, mats, walls, and storage areas.
• Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperatures.
• Maintain professional appearance and uniform policy.
• Develop positive working relationships with coworkers and customers.
• Attend required training sessions.

At Apleona, we are always on the lookout for talented and dynamic individuals to join our team. We are currently recruiting for a Full-Time Catering Assistant to be based at our site on the Ring Road in Kilkenny

Working Pattern:

37.5 hours per week, working 5 days over 7 on a rotating Monday–Sunday roster.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the Canteen’s recipes, portioning, and serving standards
• Fill in where needed to ensure customer service standards and efficient operations
• Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports, and schedules, in an organised and timely manner
• Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the canteen’s preventative maintenance programs
• Report any violations of company policies, rules, and procedures
• Ensure compliance with HACCP regulations
• Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for floors, mats, walls, other equipment, and food storage areas
• Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points
• Maintain professional appearance at all times, clean and well-groomed in accordance with company standards and uniform policy
• Develop a positive working relationship with fellow workers and customers, and avoid conflict
• Attends training sessions as required

The successful candidate must also be/have:

• A minimum of 2 years of years in kitchen preparation and cooking
• At least 6 months of experience in a similar capacity
