Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment, in partnership with a dairy foods manufacturer in Munster, is seeking an Assistant Production Manager. You will support day-to-day production management, ensuring targets are met safely and efficiently, and deputise for the Production Manager when required.

You will plan schedules, lead and develop teams, monitor KPIs, ensure HACCP/GMP compliance, and collaborate with QA, Maintenance and Planning while driving continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Supervisory/management experience in food manufacturing.
• Proven ability to lead and develop production teams.
• Strong HACCP, GMP, health & safety knowledge.
• Experience planning production schedules and resources.
• Ability to interpret KPIs and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate production schedules, staffing, equipment and resources to meet customer requirements.
• Lead, support and develop production supervisors, team leaders and operators.
• Monitor output, downtime, waste and labour efficiency, take action to improve performance.
• Maintain compliance with HACCP, GMP, food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety requirements.
• Work closely with Quality, Maintenance and Planning to resolve issues and minimise production disruption.
• Support employee induction and training, set clear expectations and address day-to-day performance issues.
• Investigate production-related quality issues with the Quality team and implement corrective actions.
• Support audits, maintain accurate production records and ensure effective shift handovers.
• Drive practical improvements in productivity, resource use and operating costs.

About Your New Job

• Previous supervisory or management experience within food manufacturing.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop production teams.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety and Health & Safety requirements.
• Experience coordinating production schedules, staffing and resources.
• Ability to interpret production KPIs, investigate problems and implement improvements.
• Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills.
• Good computer skills, including production reporting and record keeping.
• A proactive, hands-on approach and confidence managing competing priorities.
