Excel Recruitment is seeking an Area Sales Representative to grow our Builders Providers business from Abbeyleix, Laois. The role covers Tipperary, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly and Carlow, with a strong emphasis on business development to build a client base for the new store.

You will manage trade customer relationships, visit sites, prepare quotations, negotiate terms, and drive sales targets while representing the brand professionally across the territory.

Area Sales Representative – Builders Providers

My client a builder providers, hardware, DIY, and homeware business is opening up a new store in Abbeyleix, Laois.

They are looking for a Field Sales Representative to develop the sales of building materials back into the branch.

The job will cover Tipperary, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, and Carlow.

Since this is a new store, the role will involve a lot of business development to build up a client base, therefore the ideal client will have contacts with builders and contractors in order to hit the ground running.

Salary & Benefits

€50k-€60k, negotiable must reflect experience, bonus, company vehicle.

Key Responsibilities for the job of Area Sales Representative:

• Manage and develop relationships with trade and construction customers.
• Proactively identify and generate new business opportunities throughout the territory.
• Visit builders, contractors, tradespeople, construction sites, and commercial customers.
• Understand individual customer requirements and recommend the most appropriate products and solutions.
• Develop strong, long-term relationships with key accounts.
• Prepare quotations and follow up on enquiries and potential sales opportunities.
• Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within agreed parameters.
• Work towards agreed sales, margin, and revenue targets.
• Maintain a strong understanding of competitor activity and developments within the local market.
• Work closely with the internal sales, trade counter, and operational teams to ensure excellent customer service.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and follow up consistently on opportunities.
• Develop strong product knowledge and provide customers with informed advice.
• Represent the business professionally throughout the territory.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous field sales, external sales, or business development experience.
• Ideally experienced within builders providers, building materials, hardware, construction, plumbing, heating, electrical, tool hire or a related trade environment.
• Strong relationship-building and account-management skills.
• Comfortable developing new business for a new branch.
• Commercially aware with strong negotiation skills.
• Initiative-taking and comfortable managing a geographical territory.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Full clean driving licence.
