AWERA RESORT in Kepulauan Mentawai, Sumatera Barat, seeks a dedicated waiter to join our hospitality team in a full-time role, delivering exceptional dining experiences to guests in a tropical paradise.

As a front-line team member you will greet guests, explain menus, take orders, coordinate with kitchen and bar, maintain high hygiene, and process payments while upholding service standards.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service experience in hospitality.
• Strong command of English; additional languages are a plus.
• Knowledge of food & beverage service standards and wine basics is preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dining environment.
• Good physical stamina to stand and carry items.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Basic math for handling transactions.

About the role

AWERA RESORT is seeking a dedicated and professional Waiter to join our hospitality team at our stunning resort location in Kepulauan Mentawai, Sumatera Barat. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests in a tropical paradise setting. As a Waiter, you will be at the forefront of our guest interactions, playing a vital role in creating memorable moments and ensuring every diner leaves satisfied with their experience at our resort.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting guests warmly and professionally upon arrival at the dining area, and seating them appropriately
• Presenting menus and providing knowledgeable recommendations about dishes, beverages and specials
• Taking accurate food and drink orders whilst ensuring special dietary requirements are noted
• Delivering food and beverages promptly and efficiently to tables with attention to quality presentation
• Maintaining impeccable table settings and clearing plates between courses in a timely manner
• Checking in with guests during their meal to ensure satisfaction and addressing any concerns immediately
• Processing payments accurately and professionally, including managing card and cash transactions
• Collaborating with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction
• Maintaining high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness at all times
• Assisting with general dining area maintenance, restocking supplies and preparing tables for subsequent service
• Following food safety and health regulations to ensure a safe dining environment

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a waiter or in a similar hospitality service role, ideally in a resort or upmarket dining establishment
• Excellent customer service skills with a warm, professional demeanour and ability to build rapport with guests
• Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are advantageous
• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, menu items and wine pairing basics
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
• Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and carry multiple items safely
• Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
• Positive attitude, reliability and willingness to go the extra mile for guest satisfaction
• Basic mathematical skills for processing transactions accurately
• Relevant hospitality certifications or food safety qualifications are preferred
