Talent Acquisition Specialist (Shipping)

About the role

We are seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist (Shipping) to join our Human Resources and Recruitment team in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan on a full-time basis. In this role, you will play a strategic part in identifying, attracting, and recruiting top talent specifically for our shipping and maritime operations. You will work closely with departmental managers and senior leadership to understand workforce requirements and develop targeted recruitment strategies that support our business growth and operational excellence. Key responsibilities

• Source, screen, and shortlist candidates for shipping and maritime-related positions, utilising a variety of recruitment channels and databases
• Conduct initial candidate interviews and assessments to evaluate technical competencies, experience, and cultural fit
• Develop and maintain detailed job descriptions and person specifications for shipping roles in collaboration with operational teams
• Post vacancies on relevant job boards, industry platforms, and company careers portal to maximise candidate reach
• Manage the full recruitment pipeline, from candidate identification through to offer stage, ensuring timely communication and positive candidate experience
• Build and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies and maritime industry networks to support ongoing talent sourcing
• Conduct reference checks and coordinate background verification processes
• Prepare recruitment reports and analytics to monitor hiring metrics, time-to-hire, and recruitment effectiveness
• Coordinate with hiring managers to gather feedback, facilitate interview scheduling, and support final selection decisions
• Contribute to the development and implementation of recruitment strategies aligned with company growth objectives
• Support onboarding processes and maintain accurate recruitment records and documentation

What we're looking for

• 2-4 years of experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or human resources, preferably within the shipping, maritime, or logistics industry
• Strong knowledge of shipping sector roles, terminology, and industry-specific requirements
• Excellent sourcing skills with proven ability to attract qualified candidates through multiple channels
• Proficiency in using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruitment databases
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with candidates, managers, and external partners
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with capacity to manage multiple vacancies simultaneously
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in candidate screening and data management
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and recruitment-related software
• Fluency in Indonesian and English, both written and verbal
• Understanding of Indonesian employment law and recruitment regulations is advantageous
• Experience with employer branding and recruitment marketing initiatives is preferred
