Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking an R&D Formulation Manager – Personal Care in Tangerang, Indonesia. Lead development of skincare, haircare, and body care formulations from concept to production, with emphasis on scratch formulations and genuine product innovation.

You will build and lead the local R&D team, establish processes, and ensure regulatory compliance (BPOM Indonesia) and supplier alignment with Asian material sources. Strong Mandarin proficiency and relocation willingness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 7–10 years of hands-on formulation experience in cosmetic/personal care manufacturing.
• Demonstrable track record developing formulations from scratch.
• Proven leadership of an R&D formulation team or function.
• Fluent Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).
• Willing to relocate to Indonesia for Mainland China candidates.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation research and product innovation from concept to production-ready formulas.
• Identify new product opportunities through raw materials and active ingredients trends.
• Design and oversee laboratory trials, compatibility testing, and validation.
• Manage stability testing and ensure formulation performance meets quality standards.
• Oversee scale-up from lab/pilot to mass production with consistent formulations.
• Develop skincare, haircare, and body care formulations with high performance.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, Production, Marketing, and Procurement for commercialization.
• Mentor and develop the local R&D formulation team in Indonesia.
