Job summary

PT Talenta Eksekutif Asia in Tangerang, Indonesia, seeks an R&D Formulation Manager for Personal Care to lead scratch formulation, ingredient innovation, and product development across skincare, haircare, and body care. You will oversee an in-country R&D team and coordinate with Asian suppliers to drive high-performance products.

Reporting to the Innovation Director and Owner, you will manage lab trials, stability testing, and scale-up from pilot to mass production, while ensuring BPOM Indonesia

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cosmetology, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 7–10 years of hands-on formulation experience in cosmetic/personal care manufacturing.
• Proven track record of developing new formulations from scratch.
• Portfolio of successful formulation innovation across skincare, haircare, body care, or related personal care categories.
• Experience leading an R&D formulation team at managerial level.
• Strong technical expertise in emulsion technology, surfactant chemistry, active ingredient incorporation, and formulation optimization.
• Experience with accelerated and real-time stability testing, product compatibility, and formulation validation.
• Experience managing technical scale-up from laboratory to commercial mass production.
• Familiarity with Asian personal care raw material supply chains, especially Mainland China.
• Working knowledge of cosmetic regulatory and safety requirements (BPOM/NMPA).
• Strong technical reasoning, problem-solving, and product development capabilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong leadership and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is mandatory.
• Indonesian candidates welcome with Mandarin proficiency; Mainland Chinese candidates highly preferred and willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation research and develop new scratch formulations from concept to production.
• Identify new product opportunities through raw materials, active ingredients, and formulation technologies.
• Design and oversee laboratory trials, formula optimization, compatibility testing, and validation.
• Manage accelerated and real-time stability testing and ensure formulation performance meets quality standards.
• Lead technical scale-up from laboratory/pilot batches to mass production while ensuring formula consistency.
• Develop high-performance formulations across skincare, including serums, moisturizers, sunscreens, and related products.
• Develop formulations for haircare, including shampoos, conditioners, treatments.
• Support formulation development for body care, fragrance, body mist, and other categories as required.
• Evaluate, test, and recommend new raw materials, active ingredients, and formulation technologies.
• Maintain knowledge of Asian raw material suppliers, especially Mainland China partners.
• Build and mentor the local R&D formulation team in Indonesia.
• Establish roadmaps, protocols, testing standards, and documentation systems.
• Ensure formulation documentation, master files, stability data, and specs are maintained.
• Ensure new formulations comply with BPOM Indonesia and international cosmetic safety standards.
• Collaborate with QA/QC, Production, Marketing, Procurement for product commercialization.
• Provide technical recommendations to the Innovation Director and Company Owner.
