About the role

We are seeking a Mandarin Speaker / Translator Mandarin to join our administrative support team on a full-time basis in Kendal, Central Java. This is a pivotal position within our organisation, serving as a vital communication bridge for our clients and internal operations. You will play a strategic role in facilitating multilingual communications, ensuring accurate translation and interpretation of business-critical information, and supporting the smooth execution of international projects and client relationships. Your expertise in Mandarin will be essential to our continued growth and success in serving our diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Provide accurate translation and interpretation of Mandarin Chinese documents, emails, and communications for internal teams and external clients
• Facilitate communication between Mandarin-speaking clients and English-speaking staff members through simultaneous or consecutive interpretation
• Translate business correspondence, contracts, reports, and other administrative documents from Mandarin to English and vice versa
• Maintain confidentiality and cultural sensitivity when handling sensitive business communications and negotiations
• Proofread and quality-check translated materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and professional presentation
• Support client meetings, presentations, and video conferences by providing real-time interpretation services
• Assist in managing administrative tasks related to international client accounts and projects
• Collaborate with team members to clarify terminology, context, and cultural nuances in translations
• Maintain accurate records of translated documents and maintain translation databases for future reference
• Contribute to the development of standardised translation templates and glossaries for improved consistency

What we're looking for

• Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (Simplified or Traditional) with strong English language skills
• Proven experience as a professional translator or interpreter, preferably in a business or administrative environment
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy when working under time pressure
• Strong understanding of Chinese business culture, customs, and communication styles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with translation software tools
• Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
• Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple translation projects simultaneously
• Professional demeanour and discretion when handling confidential business information
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Mandarin and English
• Relevant qualifications in translation, linguistics, or a related field (preferred but not essential)
• Experience in human resources, administration, or business services (advantageous)
