We are seeking an experienced Senior Instrument & Telecommunication Engineer to provide technical oversight for Instrumentation, Control, and Telecommunication systems within LNG/FSRU, FPSO, or LNG carrier projects.
The role will be responsible for reviewing EPC engineering deliverables, ensuring successful integration of critical marine and regasification systems, supporting vendor and technical evaluations, and providing technical assurance throughout FAT, SAT, commissioning, and handover.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Engineering Review
Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables related to Instrumentation, Control, and Telecommunication systems, including P&IDs, control philosophies, logic diagrams, specifications, and 3D models.
Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and marine/offshore requirements.
Identify technical gaps, interface issues, and potential design risks and recommend appropriate solutions.
Package Integration
Oversee the integration of critical marine and regasification packages and ensure proper system interfaces and tie-ins.
Coordinate integration of DCS, ESD, Fire & Gas (F&G), Ship-to-Shore (STS), PAGA, and telecommunication systems.
Ensure effective interfaces between marine, process, safety, control, and communication systems.
Technical Bid Evaluation & Vendor Management
Conduct Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for instrumentation and telecommunication equipment.
Review supplier technical proposals, datasheets, specifications, and compliance documentation.
Manage technical correspondence and clarification with vendors for critical equipment, including control valves, metering systems, safety barriers, and communication systems.
Provide technical recommendations for equipment selection and procurement.
Quality, Compliance & Technical Assurance
Audit and monitor contractor engineering and installation activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Ensure systems comply with applicable classification society rules, including DNV and ABS, as well as marine, offshore, and hazardous-area standards.
Review hazardous-area requirements and ensure appropriate equipment selection and installation practices.
FAT, SAT & Commissioning
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for instrumentation, control, safety, and telecommunication systems.
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, system integration testing, and performance verification.
Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning and ensure systems are ready for safe operation and handover.
Support preparation and review of commissioning and handover documentation.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Telecommunication Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in the Offshore Oil & Gas, LNG, FSRU, FPSO, or Petrochemical industry.
Strong experience with LNG carrier, FSRU, FPSO, or other offshore/marine projects.
In-depth knowledge of marine communication systems, including VSAT, Navigational Aids, and GMDSS.
Strong understanding of hazardous-area classifications and standards, including IECEx and ATEX.
Proven experience with DCS, ESD, F&G, PAGA, and integrated telecommunication systems.
Experience working with EPC contractors, vendors, shipyards, classification societies, and operations teams.
Strong technical analysis, critical thinking, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Willingness to travel to offshore facilities, vessels, and shipyards as required.
Valid offshore medical certification may be required for site and shipyard assignments.
