Job description

HUMAN RESOURCES - LEARNING, PERFORMANCE & CULTURE LEAD

Reports to: Head of People & Culture

Supports: All PT UNICORN brands and locations

PT UNICORN Food & Services is the hospitality group behind some of Bali’s fastest-growing brands, including THIS IS BALI, Açaí Queen, and Superhuman.

We’re creative, ambitious, and always evolving.

We move quickly, try new ideas, learn from what happens, and keep finding smarter ways to work.

We also believe that a company can only grow as fast as its people grow.

That’s why we’re looking for a Learning, Performance & Culture Lead who can help our team become more capable, our leaders become stronger, and our culture become something people genuinely feel every day.

This is an exciting moment to join us.

We have multiple brands, new locations ahead, and a growing team full of potential. Some foundations are already in place, while many of the systems, programs, and ideas are ready for you to shape.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your role is to help build a company where people become better because they work here.

You’ll create practical learning experiences, make performance expectations clearer, develop future leaders, and help our culture grow without losing the energy and human connection that make us special.

You won’t spend all your time behind a desk.

You’ll be inside our restaurants, kitchens, offices, and other workplaces—watching how things happen, speaking with team members, listening to leaders, identifying gaps, and turning what you learn into meaningful action.

You’ll work closely with department leaders, but you’ll also be confident enough to challenge old ways of thinking and introduce better ones.

Your mission:

Make excellence clear, practical, and achievable.

Help our people build the skills and confidence to grow.

Give leaders better tools to guide and develop their teams.

Create a performance culture that feels fair, inspiring, and human.

Turn our company values into behaviours people live every day.

WHAT YOU’LL CREATE & LEAD

Learning That Makes a Real Difference

We want learning that changes how people work—not training that ends when the presentation is over.

You will:

Identify where our teams need more knowledge, confidence, or practical skills.

Build a clear learning plan across our brands and departments.

Create engaging training for service, communication, leadership, operational excellence, and personal growth.

Turn SOPs and company standards into learning that feels practical and easy to apply.

Create learning pathways for different roles and career levels.

Coordinate internal trainers, external experts, learning materials, schedules, and follow-ups.

Use practical assessments, observations, and skill checks to confirm that learning has been applied.

Measure what changed after each program and keep improving from there.

You’ll spend time where the work actually happens.

By observing our teams, listening to guest feedback, and working closely with leaders, you’ll help us understand where our standards are strong and where we can become even better.

You Will:

Help define what excellent performance looks like in each role.

Identify recurring service, communication, leadership, or operational gaps.

Create practical learning and coaching solutions around those gaps.

Help teams understand new or updated standards.

Follow up to ensure standards are understood, practised, and applied consistently.

Support a consistent guest and team experience across all brands and locations.

Clear & Human Performance Management

People perform best when they understand what is expected, receive useful feedback, and know how they can grow.

You’ll help create that clarity.

You Will:

Build a simple, fair, and effective performance-management system.

Help create role scorecards, clear expectations, competencies, and meaningful KPIs.

Coordinate probation reviews, performance reviews, development conversations, and improvement plans.

Help managers prepare for honest and constructive performance conversations.

Train leaders to give feedback with clarity, empathy, and confidence.

Identify whether a performance gap comes from unclear expectations, missing skills, limited motivation, or another challenge.

Ensure agreed actions are followed through and progress is documented.

Help maintain consistency and fairness across different departments.

Department leaders will continue to manage and coach their teams daily. You’ll give them the structure, confidence, and tools to do it exceptionally well.

Leaders Who Help People Grow

Great culture starts with great leadership.

Create development programs for supervisors, team leads, managers, and future leaders.

Strengthen skills such as communication, coaching, delegation, accountability, decision-making, and conflict resolution.

Coach leaders on how to set expectations, build trust, and bring out the best in their teams.

Identify team members with strong potential and help prepare them for their next step.

Create individual development plans for emerging and existing leaders.

Support succession planning for important roles.

Help us build more of our future leaders from within the company.

A Culture People Can Feel

For us, culture is more than events, posters, or values written on a wall.

It’s how people treat one another.

It’s how leaders communicate.

It’s what we celebrate, what we improve, and how we respond when something feels out of alignment.

You Will:

Turn our company values into simple, visible behaviours.

Bring our culture to life during onboarding, training, recognition, and everyday communication.

Regularly connect with team members to understand how they’re feeling and what they’re experiencing.

Gather honest feedback through conversations, workplace visits, surveys, and focus groups.

Spot patterns early and turn feedback into practical improvements.

Develop initiatives that strengthen connection, engagement, belonging, accountability, and pride.

Create meaningful ways to recognize excellent performance, growth, and positive contribution.

Help maintain a culture that feels warm, ambitious, respectful, and alive.

The way someone joins the company shapes everything that follows.

You Will:

Create a welcoming and inspiring onboarding journey for new team members.

Make sure every new joiner understands our story, brands, culture, standards, and expectations.

Support regular check-ins throughout the probation period.

Work with department leaders to strengthen role-specific onboarding.

Create clearer career pathways so people can see how they can grow with us.

Help team members prepare for promotions and greater responsibility.

Track onboarding feedback, early performance, and retention to understand what we can improve.

Insights That Lead to Action

You’ll bring together information from training, performance reviews, team feedback, operational results, and guest experiences.

Then you’ll help us decide what to do next.

You Will:

Maintain clear learning, performance, and development records.

Create simple monthly reports showing progress, gaps, risks, and recommended actions.

Track whether learning programs are creating visible improvements.

Share useful insights with the Head of People & Culture and department leaders.

Keep programs moving and follow up until agreed actions are completed.

Handle sensitive information with care, maturity, and confidentiality.

HOW WE’LL KNOW YOU’RE MAKING AN IMPACT

You’ll know your work is creating value when:

Team members understand what excellent performance looks like.

Training leads to visible improvements in skills, behaviour, and results.

Leaders give clearer feedback and handle performance conversations with confidence.

New team members feel welcomed, prepared, and connected.

Performance reviews and development conversations happen consistently.

High-potential team members are identified and successfully grow into bigger roles.

Recurring service and operational gaps begin to reduce.

Our culture and standards feel consistent across different brands and locations.

People can genuinely see a future for themselves within the company.

We’ll also track practical KPIs such as:

Training attendance and completion

Skill‑assessment results

Probation and performance‑review completion

Internal promotions

Team engagement and satisfaction

New‑joiner experience and early retention

Improvement in relevant operational and guest‑experience results

You’re genuinely excited by human potential.

You enjoy helping people become more confident and capable.

You believe high performance and a caring culture belong together.

You naturally notice what could work better—and feel motivated to improve it.

You’re happy moving between big‑picture thinking and hands‑on execution.

You enjoy creating something new instead of waiting for a perfect system to appear.

You can communicate with team members at every level.

You’re warm and approachable while still being clear and courageous.

You ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully, and recognize patterns.

You turn ideas into action and consistently follow through.

You’re comfortable with change, growth, experimentation, and moving priorities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Experience in learning and development, performance, organizational development, People & Culture, hospitality training, or another relevant people‑focused role.

Confidence in facilitating training, coaching leaders, and speaking in front of groups.

Experience creating training programs, learning materials, assessments, or development plans.

A practical understanding of performance reviews, KPIs, competencies, and improvement plans.

Strong communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

The ability to organize multiple programs and keep them moving.

Comfort working with data, surveys, spreadsheets, presentations, and digital tools.

High emotional intelligence, integrity, accountability, and discretion.

The flexibility to regularly visit and support our different locations.

Experience in hospitality, restaurants, retail, or another fast‑moving operational environment would be a strong advantage.

We care about experience, but we care just as much about how you think, what you can build, and the energy you bring.

WHY JOIN PT UNICORN?

You’ll have the opportunity to shape how our people learn, lead, perform, and grow across several exciting hospitality brands.

You’ll work closely with company leaders.

You’ll have space to bring new ideas, test better ways of doing things, and build meaningful systems from the ground up.

And most importantly, you’ll see the impact of your work in real life:

In a team member becoming more confident.

In a supervisor growing into a strong leader.

In a guest receiving exceptional service.

And in a company becoming better because its people are growing with it.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

One morning, you might spend time with the service team at THIS IS BALI and notice an opportunity to strengthen guest communication and product storytelling.

Later, you could coach a manager before an important performance conversation or facilitate a leadership workshop for emerging supervisors.

In the afternoon, you might review onboarding feedback, visit another location, or sit with a department leader to understand why a particular standard is being applied differently across teams.

You could finish your day developing a new learning pathway, discussing future leaders, or turning team feedback into an action plan.

Every day will look a little different.

But your purpose will stay the same:

Help our people become better, our leaders become stronger, and our culture become something every team member can genuinely feel and proudly represent.

If you’re excited about developing people, raising standards, creating meaningful change, and helping build the future of a growing hospitality company, we’d love to meet you.
