Job summary

OTAZEN is seeking an experienced HSSE Officer to join our on-site teams for interior fit-out and installation projects in Indonesia. You will implement and monitor HSSE practices, ensure PPE compliance and safe work methods, and protect personnel and assets.

The role requires a minimum S1 in Engineering or Health & Safety, 2–3 years' experience, AK3U certification, and strong English. You will conduct inspections, lead inductions, review permits, and prepare safety reports while coordinating

Qualifications

  • Minimum S1 degree in Engineering, OHS (K3) or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience as an HSSE Officer in construction or manufacturing.
  • Valid AK3U General K3 Expert certificate; additional certs are a plus.
  • Strong communication in English and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor HSSE standards and procedures at the project site.
  • Conduct site safety inspections, identify hazards, and ensure corrective actions.
  • Prepare and review HIRADC/JSA, work permits, and HSSE documents.
  • Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency drills at site.
  • Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and provide corrective actions.
  • Monitor emergency equipment and first aid/firefighting facilities on site.
  • Coordinate with Site Manager, subcontractors, and client on HSSE compliance.
  • Ensure waste management and environmental compliance during works.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly HSSE reports including manpower data.
  • Stop work and escalate for imminent danger or major non-compliance.

Job description

Otazen, a growing independent global-scale furniture manufacturing company, is opening an opportunity for an experienced professional to join as HSSE Officer, to be placed at our project sites. As HSSE Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) practices directly on-site, ensuring that all work activities during installation and interior fit-out execution comply with safety standards and regulations, to protect manpower, assets, and the surrounding environment.

Key Responsibilities

Implement and monitor HSSE standards and procedures at the project site, including PPE compliance and safe work practices for all personnel and subcontractors

Conduct site safety inspections and audits regularly, identify hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, and near misses, and ensure timely corrective actions

Prepare and review HIRADC/JSA, work permits, and other HSSE documentation prior to high-risk work activities on site

Lead safety induction, toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and emergency response drills/simulations for site personnel

Investigate incidents and accidents on site, determine root causes, and prepare incident reports with corrective and preventive action recommendations

Monitor and manage emergency response equipment, first aid facilities, and firefighting equipment (APAR) on site

Coordinate with the Site Manager, subcontractors, and client representatives on HSSE compliance and site safety requirements

Ensure proper waste management and environmental compliance during site works

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSSE reports for site activities, including manpower, man-hours, and safety performance data

Stop work and elevate immediately in cases of imminent danger or serious non-compliance on site

Requirements

Minimum S1 degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety (K3), or a related field

Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an HSSE Officer, preferably in construction, interior fit-out, or manufacturing site projects

Must hold a valid General K3 Expert certificate (AK3U); additional certifications (e.g., Scaffolding, Working at Height, First Aid) are an advantage

Willing to be placed and relocate to project sites as required

Proficient in computer operation (Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word)

Good verbal and written communication skills, including in English

Strong leadership and ability to enforce safety compliance firmly yet collaboratively

Able to work under pressure and respond quickly in emergency situations

Physically fit and willing to work in an active construction/installation site environment

Work Location

Project-based placement, following the location of ongoing Otazen interior fit-out and installation projects.
