Job summary

Otazen, a growing global-scale furniture manufacturer, seeks a Technical Engineering Manager to lead the Technical & Engineering division across furniture manufacturing and interior fit-out operations. You will oversee drafting, technical engineering, document control, and costing to ensure projects meet top construction standards.

You will drive standards, review critical drawings, and align engineering output with production capacity and client specs, while mentoring a cross-disciplinary team

Qualifications

• Minimum S1 in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in technical engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial/leadership role.
• Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks; familiarity with 3D software and ERP systems (Odoo) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Technical & Engineering team (Drafters, Technical Engineers, Product Desain, Costing).
• Set engineering standards, construction details, and technical specifications (OTA standards) for consistency and quality.
• Review and approve critical engineering drawings, CNC input, shop drawings, and material breakdowns before production or site release.
• Evaluate production machine capacity and ensure engineering output aligns with production limitations and efficiency targets.
• Oversee technical input across all active projects to support timelines, budgets and client specs.
• Lead KOMs and technical reviews with Production, QC, R&D, Site, and Costing to resolve design-to-build issues.
• Act as escalation point for complex technical troubleshooting across design, production, assembly, and site.
• Coordinate with PMs, Site Managers, and clients on technical matters affecting execution and feasibility.
• Develop and improve engineering workflows, SOPs, and documentation standards across the dept.
• Monitor department KPIs (drawing accuracy, costing accuracy, on-time delivery) and report to senior management.

Otazen, a growing independent global-scale furniture manufacturing company, is opening an opportunity for a senior professional to join as Technical Engineering Manager, leading the Technical & Engineering division across furniture manufacturing and interior fit-out operations. As Technical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the overall engineering direction of the company — overseeing drafting, technical engineering, document control, and costing functions to ensure every project is technically sound, efficiently executed, and delivered to the highest construction standards.

Key responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop the Technical & Engineering team, including Drafters, Technical Engineers, Product Desain, and Costing staff

Set engineering standards, construction details, and technical specifications (OTA standards) to ensure consistency and quality across all furniture and interior fit-out projects

Review and approve critical engineering drawings, CNC input, shop drawings, and material breakdowns before release to production or site

Evaluate production machine capacity and capabilities, and ensure engineering output aligns with production limitations and efficiency targets

Oversee technical input across all active projects, ensuring engineering decisions support project timelines, budgets, and client specifications

Lead Kick Off Meetings (KOM) and technical reviews with Production, QC, R&D, Site, and Costing teams to resolve design-to-build issues

Act as the escalation point for complex technical troubleshooting across design, production, assembly, and site installation

Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Managers, and clients on technical matters affecting project execution and feasibility

Develop and continuously improve engineering workflows, SOPs, and documentation standards across the department

Monitor department KPIs (drawing accuracy, costing accuracy, on-time delivery) and report performance to senior management

About you

Minimum S1 in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Engineering, Product Design, or a related field

Minimum 7-10 years of experience in technical engineering, with at least 3 years in a managerial/leadership role, preferably in furniture manufacturing, interior fit-out, or construction

Strong expertise in reading and validating engineering, architectural, and shop drawings

Deep understanding of furniture and interior fit-out construction methods, materials, and production processes

Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks; familiarity with 3D software and ERP systems (Odoo) is an advantage

Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional team management skills

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure

Strong communication skills, including in English, for coordination with clients and senior stakeholders
