The role oversees the end‑to‑end operating value chain, including new business, underwriting, policy admin, claims, servicing, and technology delivery, with a focus on efficiency and control.

Responsibilities

• Oversee new business processing, application handling, policy issuance, case management and onboarding.
• Oversee underwriting, risk assessment, and decision frameworks for life and health products.
• Lead claims operations including assessment, processing, settlement and customer service.
• Manage policy administration, premium processing, renewals and servicing.
• Steer technology strategy, IT infrastructure, core systems and systems integration.
• Ensure cybersecurity and business continuity align with strategy.
• Maintain regulatory compliance and governance in Indonesia and international best practices.
• Drive data analytics and performance insights across operations.

Job description

We are seeking an accomplished and commercially astute Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join an established life insurance business in Indonesia. This is a pivotal executive leadership role for a highly experienced insurance professional with a strong background in global life insurance and a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering significant business process and operational transformation

About the Chief Operating Officer (CCO) position:

Reporting to the CEO, the COO will provide strategic and operational leadership across the organization, with responsibility for the effective management, performance and transformation of the company's core business operations and supporting functions. The COO will oversee the end-to-end life insurance operating value chain, ensuring that business processes, infrastructure, systems, technology and operational capabilities are aligned with the company's commercial objectives and long-term strategy

• Management of new business processing, application handling, policy issuance, case management and onboarding processes
• Oversight of medical and financial underwriting, risk assessment, underwriting processes and decision‑making frameworks
• Leadership of life and health claims operations, including claims assessment, processing, settlement and customer service
• Management of policy administration, policy maintenance, premium processing, renewals, endorsements and ongoing policy servicing
• Oversight of technology strategy and delivery, IT infrastructure, core insurance administration systems, digital platforms and systems integration
• Ensuring technology capabilities support the company's strategic and operational objectives, including cybersecurity and business continuity
• Maintaining strong operational governance and regulatory compliance in line with Indonesian insurance regulations and international best practices
• Driving the effective use of data, business intelligence and performance analytics

The successful candidate will bring extensive international life insurance experience, combining deep technical and operational knowledge with the strategic vision and execution capability to transform complex business operations, improve efficiency and deliver sustainable business performance

Skills and experience needed:

The ideal candidate will be a highly accomplished senior executive with a minimum of 20 years of relevant professional experience, including significant leadership experience within the global life insurance industry

• Must have held senior leadership positions within a recognized global or multinational life insurance business, bringing exposure to international best practices, sophisticated operating models and world‑class operational standards
• Demonstrable success in personally leading and delivering significant business process transformation initiatives within a life insurance organization. This must go beyond incremental process improvements and include substantial, measurable business transformation.
• Extensive understanding of the end‑to‑end life insurance value chain, including new business, underwriting, policy administration, claims, customer servicing, technology and distribution support.
• Experience leading technology‑driven transformation, systems modernization, automation and digital initiatives within a life insurance environment.
• Previous experience working in Indonesia or other Southeast Asian markets is strongly preferred. Expatriate candidates will be considered, provided they have meaningful prior professional experience in the region.
• A relevant university degree is essential. Postgraduate qualifications or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous

The position will be based in Indonesia. We welcome applications from both Indonesian nationals and expatriate candidates.
