Job summary

Matahari, Indonesia's premier department store chain, is seeking a commercially driven Merchandising Manager – Beauty to manage our cosmetics brand portfolio, strengthen partnerships, and drive sales, profitability, and inventory productivity. The role requires 7+ years in retail merchandising with a focus on beauty, consignment or direct Purchase brands, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years in retail merchandising, buying, or category/vendor management, preferably in department stores or beauty retail.
• Experience managing consignment and/or direct purchase brands, including commercial negotiations and brand performance analysis.
• Strong understanding of commercial terms, assortment planning, OTB budgeting, pricing, margins, and inventory management.
• Good analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong leadership capabilities and proficiency in Excel, BI reporting, and data analysis.
• Knowledge of cosmetics products, market trends, and beauty consumer preferences is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop sales plans, gross margin targets, and purchasing budgets aligned with business objectives.
• Evaluate and optimize beauty brands and product assortments based on market trends, customer demand, pricing, and profitability.
• Negotiate commercial terms with brand partners and suppliers, including commission, margins, purchase prices, payment terms, and promotional contributions.
• Monitor sales, gross margin, sell-through, inventory turnover, and brand productivity to identify growth opportunities and improve performance.
• Ensure product availability and manage slow-moving, aging, and near-expiry stock to minimize inventory risks.
• Build strong relationships with brand principals and coordinate with internal teams to support promotions, product launches, and brand execution.
• Lead, coach, and develop the merchandising team to achieve business objectives.
