Job summary

Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) seeks a Temporary Assistant Counsellor to provide individual counselling and guidance to students at the Student Development Resource Centre. The appointee will organise and evaluate developmental programmes to help students adjust to College and prepare for further study and employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling or related discipline.
• At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in personal or career counselling to youth, organising youth activities and developmental programmes.
• Eligibility for membership of relevant professional bodies.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; Putonghua fluency is an advantage.
• Good AI literacy and computer proficiency.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

The appointee will be required to:

• provide guidance and individual counselling services to students;
• organise, implement and evaluate student developmental programmes to facilitate students’ adjustment to College and preparation for further study and employment;
• provide service and support to Chinese Mainland or Non-Chinese Speaking students;
• contribute to the implementation of new projects;
• perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Candidates should have/be:

• a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counselling or a related discipline;
• at least 3 years' post-qualification experience in personal or career counselling to youth, organising youth activities and developmental programmes;
• eligibility for membership of the relevant professional bodies;
• good interpersonal skills;
• a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, fluency in Putonghua will be an advantage;
• a good AI literacy and computer proficiency are required; and
• ability to manage multiple tasks and work under dynamic environment.

Employment Period

Around sevenmonths, between October 2026 and April 2027.

Remunerationand Conditions of Service

The appointment is made on a temporary basis. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
