Job summary

The Hospital Authority in Hong Kong is seeking a Statistical Analyst II to support data-driven decision making through statistical modelling, data extraction, and visualization. You will transform data from corporate systems into analytic datasets and contribute to reports and presentations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor degree in Statistics/Data Science, with experience in SAS, Tableau, Python, R, GIS, and strong English/Chinese communication. Hybrid/onsite work and competitive terms apply.

Qualifications

• A bachelor degree in Statistics, Data Science or equivalent.
• Knowledge of and experience in statistical computing techniques and application of statistical packages & data visualization tools such as SAS, Tableau, Python, R, GIS.
• Knowledge of and experience in data extraction and analysis using HA platforms and information systems such as AIDA, HAMIS and CDARS.
• Knowledge of clinical coding, medical terminology and healthcare/hospital statistics.
• Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Outlook).
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out tasks to extract, organise and transform data into analysable datasets supporting data visualization, analytics and modelling.
• Execute planned data visualization, data analytics and statistical modelling tasks.
• Conduct control procedures according to QA plans during statistical production processes.
• Compile statistical reports for regular reporting and ad hoc enquiries.
• Assist in preparation of documentation on statistical production processes and presentation materials.
• Provide support on literature and fact-finding search and identification of external data sources.
• Supervise clerical/EA staff to support routine statistical production processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned by seniors.

Statistical Analyst II - (REF. NO.: HO2610015)

Department / Cluster: Statistics and Data Science Department, Strategy and Planning Division, HA Head Office

Pay: HK$36,465 - HK$51,313 [HGPS point 14 - 21] per month (including Monthly Allowance)

Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out defined tasks in the structured processes to extract, organise and transform data in the corporate data warehouse or information systems into analyzable datasets supporting development of data visualization, data analytics and statistical modelling.
• Execute the planned data visualization, data analytics and statistical modelling tasks.
• Conduct control procedures according to quality assurance plans during the statistical production processes.
• Compile statistical reports for regular reporting and ad hoc enquiries.
• Assist in preparation of documentation on statistical production processes and presentation materials.
• Provide support on literature and fact-finding search, and identification of external data sources.
• Supervise supporting clerical/EA staff to carry out clerical duties in support of the routine statistical production processes.

Entry Requirements:

A bachelor degree in Statistics, Data Science or equivalent.

• Knowledge of and experience in statistical computing techniques and application of statistical packages & data visualization tools such as SAS, Tableau, Python, R, GIS.
• Knowledge of and experience in data extraction and analysis using the HA’s data analytic platforms (such as AI & Data Analytics Platform (AIDA) and Data Collaboration Laboratory) and information systems (such as HA Management Information System (HAMIS) and Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting System (CDARS)).
• Knowledge of clinical coding, medical terminology and healthcare/hospital statistics.
• Competency in use of Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word and Outlook).
• Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
