Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc in Hong Kong seeks a Senior Algorithmic Trading Engineer to build a scalable, low-latency trading platform across Asia. You will work closely with front-office, product teams and cross-border risk/compliance to deliver fast, reliable functionality.

You bring expert Java with JVM, Scala, deep equities knowledge, and experience designing distributed systems. Fluency in English and strong communication are essential, along with hands-on risk awareness and latency monitoring

Qualifications

• Expert-level Java experience including the JVM, GC, data structures and non-blocking IO.
• Solid Scala development experience or willingness to learn quickly.
• Deep knowledge of equities trading, order lifecycle, FIX messaging and Asian markets.
• Understanding of robust, scalable and highly available distributed trading platforms.
• Passionate about technology, solutions and continuous improvement.
• Know-how of risk management and regulatory environment.
• Fluent in written and spoken English with strong communication.
• Hands-on experience with algorithmic trading and low-latency execution.
• Knowledge of PTP and latency monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Build a scalable, highly available algorithmic trading platform across Asia.
• Make architectural decisions shaping the platform design.
• Collaborate with front-office trading and product teams for fast delivery.
• Liaise with compliance and risk teams to meet regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with the global team for collaborative development and reviews.
