Job summary

A HKSAR Government Department seeks an IT Support Specialist to work in a Data Centre, performing daily support tasks, incident reporting, and maintenance. The role involves monitoring equipment, updating inventories, and coordinating with maintenance contractors to ensure smooth operations.

Candidates should have DSE/HKCEE with Chinese and English, at least 2 years in network operation, and experience with Windows 10/Server 2012+.

Qualifications

• Experience in network operation and troubleshooting in a data-centre environment.
• Strong communication and customer relation skills.
• Solid experience with Windows servers and basic UNIX will be advantageous.

Job description

IT Support Specialist (Government Sector, Shiftwork/ Networking)

A HKSAR Government Department Selected candidates will be assigned to work in the government department and work in Data Centre to provide daily support services including but not limited to equipment health checking, maintenance services working with various maintenance contractors, backup tape management, equipment hosting management, incident / fault notification and reporting.

Responsibilities:

• To operate computer and associated equipment/facilities according to prescribed standards and procedures; monitor their performance; and perform routine maintenance
• To prepare jobs according to prescribed procedures and ensure their successful completion, check completeness and ensure high quality of computer output
• To fulfil logging and administrative reporting requirements; assist in preparing statistics and reports
• To keep stock and monitor stock level of computer supplies
• To update and maintain inventory records of computer hardware; perform inventory checking on equipment; and maintain procedure manuals and documentation
• To perform on-the-spot trouble shooting works
• To check result of processing, identify system malfunctions and initiate corrective actions
• To monitor progress of jobs running in machines and maintain proper logs and records
• To record and report machine utilization and failure incidents.
• 1To monitor and advise on environmental matters of computer room and related area
• To monitor the installation and operation of environmental facilities in computer room

Requirements:

• DSE or HKCEE’s certificate holder with 5 subjects in level 2 including Chinese and English
• At least 2 years working experience in network operation
• Solid working experience in operating Windows 10/Windows Server 2012 or above
• Solid working experience in Customer Relations
• Candidates with solid working experience in basic UNIX will be advantageous
