Operations and Maintenance Engineer Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Every time you pick up the phone, surf the Internet, travel on a motorway, catch a train, bus or tube, or even dial 999; chances are Telent has enabled the technology to make this happen. We are currently recruiting for an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, carrying out maintenance and commissioning activities within your designated area. This includes the top of M25, M4, M11 and bottom of the M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

Our Operations and Maintenance Engineers are critical in delivering our contracts, whether that is maintaining, supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you’ll do:

• Attend cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to keep the network operational.
• Ensure all equipment commissioning is completed to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Respond to equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets in your area, day or night.
• Undertake general maintenance and commissioning of fibre and copper equipment, including testing.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing within fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
