Job description

MOD Abbeywood, Filton, Bristol

Job Summary

The Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) Requirements' Manager (RM) works within the Special Projects (SP) Capability Branch but is based with the Delivery Agent (DE&S) in Bristol. The primary responsibility of this role is to define, capture and maintain the user requirements and track system requirements of specialist UAS capabilities in support of capability development and delivery.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

The UAS Requirements Manager (RM) is a key post, whose primary responsibility is to define, capture and maintain the user and track system requirements of specialist UAS capabilities.

These must be consistent with the endorsed Statement of User Requirement (SUR) and clearly articulated in a User Requirements Document (URD), the production of which will require close engagement and cooperation with the Specialist User, the Delivery Team and cross-government communities.

Additionally, the RM post will be the lead industry focus in order to develop a better understanding of future technology advancements, and any potential impact/opportunities that may be forthcoming.

Continuous close liaison with the DT will be required to ensure that technological improvements and obsolescence issues are managed/mitigated throughout the capability life cycle and linked to the UAS capability ‘road map’.

The RM post is also responsible for defining an appropriate test and acceptance strategy for the programme and, with close engagement with the user/customer communities, responsible for producing overarching Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance Plans (ITEAPs).

This post also offers an opportunity to work in one of the most exciting, interesting and customer facing DTs within DE&S. It gives the chance to develop strong leadership and management skills whilst engaging with a specialist stakeholder community, in addition to core Programme Management and Requirements Managers competencies.

If you need to advise us that you need additional help or reasonable adjustments for the recruitment process, please contact: DBSCivPers-Resourcingteam3@mod.gov.uk.

As a result of the changes to the UK immigration rules which came in to effect on 1 January 2021, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points based system, where a role has been deemed to be business critical. This role does not meet that category and we will not sponsor a visa. It is therefore NOT open to applications from those who will require sponsorship under the points based system.

Should you apply for this role and be found to require sponsorship, your application will be rejected and any provisional offer of employment withdrawn.
