A leading engineering consultant in the UK is looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to assist in managing project costs and contracts. This position involves working closely under the supervision of a senior surveyor while participating in a Graduate Development Programme, aimed at personal and leadership skills enhancement. Graduates will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects across various sectors, including highways and rail. Applicants should be ready to obtain an airside pass as required for the aviation sector.
The role of Graduate Quantity Surveyor is to assist in administration and management of costs and contracts relating to projects. The role may involve all aspects of work from the initial tender to final account and close out, seeking to minimise the costs and enhance value for money whilst achieving the required standards and quality. This role will work under the close direction and supervision of a senior quantity surveyor.
Costain is the Major Programme Partner (MPP) and the Asset Renewal Partner (ARP) for Terminals 1 and 2, two of six major programmes of work that Heathrow has committed to deliver within the H7 quinquennium. Within the MPP framework, Costain is the Principal Contractor and Principal Designer for the T2 Baggage Programme (T2BP), which is a £700m+ complex baggage and infrastructure programme.
Please note that this role will work within the aviation sector and you will be required to obtain an airside pass. To satisfy the requirements, you will need to provide 5 years references and complete a criminal reference check.
The programme will focus on helping you to grow your personal and leadership skills, alongside business and of course, the technical skills you will learn day-to-day on the job. The programme is delivered in a variety of formats throughout the 2 years and will allow you to establish a network of contacts that will help and support you through your first 2 years and beyond. We expect some of our graduates to rotate after a period of 8-12 months, to another project/sector of the business to fully understand the depth and breadth of the services offered by the company. Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way. In addition to the programme, we offer mentoring and support in every area of work, as well as a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership. Graduates may have the opportunity to work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, in sectors including nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports and tunnels.
