A prominent procurement institute in the UK seeks a Commercial/Procurement Specialist to drive end-to-end procurement processes and manage stakeholder relationships. This role requires strong commercial experience, analytical skills, and knowledge of commercial law. Applicants must be British citizens and attain Developed Vetting security clearance. Contract: Permanent and full time. You’ll be required to work in line with FCDO policies on hybrid working, which involves a minimum of 60% in the office.

FCDO Commercial provides end‑to‑end procurement and innovative commercial solutions to deliver the FCDO’s priorities and the Government’s missions, and when you join us in this important role you’ll work across the procurement lifecycle, helping to deliver commercial excellence while providing a high quality customer‑focused service. From developing strategies, gathering requirements across the business and designing and managing the overall process, through to supplier management and contract handover, you’ll be taking on a wide range of important responsibilities.
Your day‑to‑day tasks will include serving as a subject matter expert with key stakeholders as we work to develop a clear view of commercial requirements, contributing to the maintenance of systems throughout the procurement lifecycle, and ensuring that business obligations are supported by category strategies. Working alongside your colleagues to create a proactive and intelligent function, and shaping future procurement policy and standards, we’ll also expect you to develop and refresh category strategies, capturing and managing data and market insights.
To be a success in this significant role you’ll be capable of drawing on your commercial experience to drive performance while working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Capable of prioritising and managing your workload to deliver to tight deadlines, mitigating and escalating any risks and responding quickly to changing operational demands, you should also be ready to support performance, manage setbacks and resolve any issues that occur.
You’ll be working with a diverse range of stakeholders and suppliers, so you’ll be skilled at developing positive relationships, establishing governance arrangements and ensuring the effective management of clarifications and change requests. It goes without saying that you’ll have proven experience of the end‑to‑end procurement process, a strong understanding of commercial law, and the skills necessary to perform analysis on spend and market data, extract key insights, and deliver recommendations that support strategic decision making and problem solving.
You must be a British citizen at the time of your application, and you’ll be required to attain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
