Job summary

Clinical Lead - Learning Disabilities Nurse

We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Clinical Lead - Learning Disabilities Nurse to join our professional team in Medway.

Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Level 6 Degree or equivalent qualification as a Learning Disabilities Nurse or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience plus a diploma in Learning Disabilities nursing.
  • You will be a registered health care professional with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Experience
  • Proven ability to work effectively within your area of practice, supported by relevant experience. As well as managing complex caseloads and supporting/ mentoring others.
  • You will need to be able to use IT systems and databases
Knowledge
  • Having an awareness of developments within the NHS would be an advantage as well as an understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance.
  • You will have knowledge of up to date clinical practice by using up- to- date skills and adhering to evidence-based procedures and clinical effectiveness frameworks.
  • You will fully understand the role and remit of a health care worker.
Skills
  • You will need have sound communication skills in order to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • You will need to be able to work well under pressure and be able to organise your own work.
  • You will need to be adaptable in work as things change as part of working in a wider team.
Personal Attributes
  • Tact and sensitivity will be essential in this role, there will be times when you see distressing situations which may include vulnerable, violent or aggressive patients.
  • You will have the ability to focus on the details and spot any potential problems.
  • You will know when you are within your own limits and when to elevate.
