A healthcare trust in Grimsby seeks a Senior Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician to provide high-quality clinical services. The role involves leading junior doctors, developing clinics, and ensuring patient care excellence. Applicants must be GMC registered. This job offers a collaborative environment and opportunities for professional growth.
The service administratively resides within the Family Services division. The current post is created to tackle the increasing demand from obstetrics and gynaecology service and to ensure safe obstetrics care.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology service is offered across two main sites: Diana Princess of Wales Hospital and Scunthorpe General Hospital. The Diana Princess of Wales Hospital covers antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics, ambulatory, colposcopy clinics and theatre sessions. We provide level 2 neonatal care. The maternity unit, neonatal, NICU and administrative offices are all located within the Acorn suite. Gynaecology assessment unit (24/7) with in‑patient facility for Gynaecology is provided at SDEC (Same day emergency care) and IAAU (integrated acute assessment unit).
In 2023/24 there were 2,121 deliveries in the maternity unit. The maternity provides LDRP (labour, delivery, recovery and postnatal) model of maternity care. There is consultant anaesthetist cover during working hours and a 24‑hour epidural service is in operation. A robust midwifery team supports the maternity service providing services in a hospital setting. There are advanced nurse practitioners and advanced midwifery practitioners incorporated in the medical rota. DPOW obstetrics and gynaecology training have been rated one of the highest in England at the national training survey in the last 2 years. We provide 60 hours on‑site consultant presence at both acute sites.
As a senior employee of the Trust the post‑holder will work in close co‑operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust’s patients.
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two trusts – Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) – our partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world‑class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital (for NLAG) and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital (for HUTH).
As teaching hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas – biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our partnership and our community.
The post would suit a good team player dedicated to high quality patient care. The opportunity exists to work in a non‑hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology procedures in this busy DGH.
The appointee must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice.
