Trustee Opportunity - Fundraising / Business Development Expertise

Personal Best Foundation is seeking a new Trustee to help us scale and sustain our impact. We exist to change young lives through the power of athletics - breaking down social inequalities and improving health and wellbeing for children and young people from disadvantaged and underserved communities.

The Personal Best Foundation is an independent registered charity, affiliated to and supported by England Athletics, providing strong links and credibility within the athletics and wider sport sector.

We are at an exciting stage of growth, having adopted a mixed fundraising model and recently launched our first major corporate partnership, with strong potential to grow in the years ahead.

To help us achieve our aims, we are seeking to recruit a new Trustee with expertise in fundraising strategy or business development to join our esteemed Board. This is a strategic role providing insight, advice and guidance to help us build long term sustainability and growth.

We are particularly interested in individuals who have:

• Senior-level experience in fundraising strategy and income generation - e.g. shaping fundraising propositions, developing a compelling case for support, influencing funders, and/or designing income generation strategies;
• Business development or start-up growth experience - ideally with a background in scaling organisations, developing partnerships, or building sustainable business models that could transfer into a charity setting.

The Role of our Trustees: Our Trustees play a vital role in ensuring the charity achieves its purpose, overseeing governance, sustainability, and strategy. Just as importantly, our Trustees act as a critical friend to the leadership team - supporting, advising, constructively challenging and when appropriate, leveraging their networks to strengthen the Foundation’s impact.

Time commitment is around 1-2 days per month, including Board meetings, sub-committees and key events. The role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
