Job summary
A local government council is seeking two Street Cleansing Operatives to join their Street Scene Services team in Wakefield. The role involves maintaining environmental quality and community pride through effective street cleansing. Essential requirements include a Driving License category C1 and Driver CPC qualification. Full-time hours are 37 per week with extensive benefits such as training and discounted public transport.

An opportunity exists in the Council’s Street Scene Services for a Street Cleansing Operative x 2 working from our Depot at Normanton.
The post holder will be part of a Street Scene Team todelivera high quality citizen focused Street Scene service within a neighbourhood in Wakefield districts, which delivers safer and stronger communities by improving environmental quality and increasing the sense of community pride in neighbourhoods.
- You will be working within recognised safe systems and in accordance with all aspects of health and safety legislation.
- You will be responsible for high standards of maintenance sweeping of paths.
- To undertake street cleansing activities by use of a range of hand tools and small plant, in a flexible manner, providing a citizen focused service which delivers safer and stronger communities by improving environmental quality and increasing the sense of community pride in neighbourhoods.
- You will be working as part of a Street Cleansing Team for a Geographical area of the district.
- Driving License category C1 (up to 7.5t)
- Driver CPC qualification
- Hold or obtain NVQ Level 2 or equivalent within 2 years of appointment
- A sound knowledge of operating plant, tools and equipment in a relevant environmental / amenity work.
- This is a full-Time post of 37 hours per week.
- Support and ongoing training.
