Job summary

Grant & Stone Building Supplies, part of Independent Builders Merchants Group, is seeking a reliable Yard Operative at Hemel Hempstead Build 3C branch. You will load/unload materials, prepare customer orders, assist customers in the yard, and maintain safety standards.

Role requires good communication, a valid UK driving licence, and yard/merchant experience is desirable. Forklift training is preferred but not essential, with a supportive team environment and development opportunities.

We’re now looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our team at our Hemel Hempstead Build 3C branch.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Load and unload roofing materials and timber
• Pick and prepare customer orders
• Assist customers collecting goods from the yard
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard area
• Operate forklift trucks (if trained)
• Follow all health and safety procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Good communication and customer service skills
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
• Full UK driving licence
• Yard or builders’ merchant experience (desirable)
• Sales or product knowledge is a bonus

Working Hours

• Week 1: Monday – Friday 07:00–17:00
• Week 2: Monday - Friday 07:00 - 17:00 Every other Saturday 08:00-12:00
