Job summary

Eh Smith (builders Merchants) Ltd. is seeking a friendly Yard Operative for our Olton branch to work in the yard and warehouse, picking orders, serving customers, and preparing shipments for delivery.

The role includes loading/unloading vehicles, stock rotation, health and safety, and delivering first-class customer service. Forklift experience and a valid licence are preferred. A competitive salary and benefits are provided.

• Experience with stock handling and heavy building materials.
• Valid forklift licence and experience with counterbalance equipment.
• Knowledge of stock rotation and warehouse safety.

Job description

We require an enthusiastic individual who can provide excellent customer service to our trade and retail customers. You will be working in the yard and warehouse to retrieve stock as well as preparing and picking orders to be loaded onto our lorries for delivery.

Key tasks will include:

• Picking orders and serving customers
• Loading and unloading HGV vehicles
• Stock rotation and maintenance
• Health & Safety awareness / adherence
• Delivering a first-class customer service
• Bagging Aggregate

Person & Skills

The successful candidate will be familiar with all aspects of stock handling and have knowledge of heavy-side building materials. Ideally you will have recent experience of driving a counterbalance and combination forklift, as well as having a valid forklift licence
