Job summary

Roofing Gear – Yeovil, Dorchester & Poole is seeking a reliable Yard Operative to join our Dorchester branch. This full-time role sits within Independent Builders Merchants Group (IBMG) and focuses on loading/unloading materials, order picking, and assisting customers in the yard.

You will contribute to a safe, tidy yard and may operate a forklift if trained. A full UK driving licence and good customer service are essential; forklift training is a plus.

Qualifications

• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Yard or builders’ merchant experience (desirable).
• Sales or product knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload roofing materials and timber.

We’re now looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our team at our Dorchester branch.

The Role

What You’ll Be Doing

• Load and unload roofing materials and timber
• Pick and prepare customer orders
• Assist customers collecting goods from the yard
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard area
• Operate forklift trucks (if trained)
• Follow all health and safety procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Good communication and customer service skills
• Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)

Working Hours

• Week 1: Monday – Friday 07:00–16:30
• Week 2: Monday - Friday 07:00 - 16:30 Every other Saturday 07:00-11:00
