Job summary

Grant & Stone Building Supplies at High Wycombe is seeking a Counter Sales & Yard Operative to join our busy branch. This full-time, permanent role blends customer-facing counter sales with hands-on yard duties to keep operations running smoothly.

You will help customers, assist with stock, loading/unloading, and build product knowledge while working as part of a friendly team dedicated to excellent service.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, sales, warehouse, distribution, builders' merchant, retail or construction-related environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence dealing with customers face-to-face and over the phone.
• Positive, team-oriented approach and good attention to detail.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors and learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with customers face-to-face, over the phone and via email.
• Assist with yard duties, stock organisation and product knowledge.
• Support branch operations and contribute to smooth day-to-day running.
• Counter sales, shop merchandising, hand loading/unloading, FLT loading/unloading.

We have an exciting internal opportunity for a Counter Sales & Yard Operative to join our High Wycombe branch.

This varied role combines customer-facing counter sales responsibilities with hands-on yard duties, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, supporting colleagues, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of a busy branch.

About the Role

Yard Responsibilities

We're looking for a positive, customer-focused team member who is keen to learn and contribute to the success of the branch.

• Experience within a customer service, sales, warehouse, distribution, builders' merchant, retail, or construction-related environment


• Strong communication and relationship-building skills


• Confidence dealing with customers face-to-face and over the telephone


• A positive, team-oriented approach

Desirable, but not essential:
