Job summary

Grant & Stone Building Supplies (Part of IBMG) in Wantage is seeking a reliable Yard Operative / HGV Class 2 HIAB Relief Driver to join our team. The role combines yard work with delivery cover, supporting daily operations and customer service.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
• CPC Qualification Card and Digital Tachograph Card.
• HIAB Licence preferred (training may be available for the right candidate).

• Ability to work safely in a busy yard environment.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• Good level of physical fitness for manual handling duties.
• Forklift experience desirable but not essential.
• Builders merchant experience advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Yard duties including picking and preparing customer orders.
• Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised yard.
• Assisting with stock control and goods-in procedures.
• Serving and assisting customers in the yard.

• Completing daily vehicle checks and paperwork.
• Ensuring deliveries are made on time.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Yard Operative / HGV Class 2 HIAB Relief Driver to join our team.

This is a varied position where you'll support the day-to-day running of the yard while also providing delivery cover when required. You'll play a key role in ensuring customers receive excellent service both in branch and on site.

Key Responsibilities

Yard Duties

• Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
• Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised yard
• Assisting with stock control and goods-in procedures
• Serving and assisting customers in the yard
• Operating a forklift truck (training provided if required)

Driving Duties

• Delivering building materials safely and efficiently
• Operating HIAB equipment where licensed

Hours

Week:1 Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm

Week:2 Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
