Job description
Overview

Job Type: Full-time but can be offered part-time and/or term-time only (39 weeks a year)

Location: Mill Hill, Barnet, Whetstone

Salary: £29-35,000 based on full-time 40 hours a week

(Actual hours will vary according to site, contract & personal preference)

Hours of work: This will depend on contract type but as full-time or term-time only hours will include delivery hours of wraparound. Wraparound includes Breakfast Clubs typically running for 1 hour between 7:30am – 8:45am and after school clubs running between 3-6pm.

This role could also be offered with minimum of 8 flexible hours a week where the postholder would hold responsibility for ensuring compliance with OFSTED and overseeing the quality of delivery.

Key responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.
  • Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote creativity, physical activity, and social development for children.
  • Support children with their individual needs, including emotional, social, and behavioral support.
  • Order and maintain all activity resources and food
  • Oversee the preparation and service of healthy snacks or meals in line with food hygiene and allergy guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory guidance, including safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies, taking responsibility for compliance with OFSTED and leading on OFSTED inspections
  • Liaise with school staff to ensure an effective partnership
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incidents, safeguarding concerns and reporting on number of places utilised and effective use of resources
  • Manage team members to ensure the smooth running of the club and assume responsibility for wraparound training
  • Monitoring quality of care through observations and feedback
  • Support the recruitment of wraparound staff
  • Build links and work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the well-being of the children and provide updates to parents/carers on their child’s participation and wellbeing.
  • Identify and report on child protection issues to the school DSL or other professionals as appropriate
  • Prepare for inspections both internal and external, including OFSTED
The successful candidate will have
  • A minimum of Level 3 qualification (NVQ, BTEC, CACHE) or equivalent in Playwork development or early years qualification.
  • Experience of effective supervision or management of staff in a school or childcare setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a similar setting and a genuine passion for working with children.
  • Organised and able to prioritise multiple workloads
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant national regulations and guidance relating to child protection, health & safety, equal opportunities and confidentiality
  • A Paediatric First Aid certificate and Level 2 food hygiene certificate will be an advantage, but these can be arranged
