Job summary

Johnsons Cars is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller for our Volkswagen dealership in Stafford. The role involves allocating work to technicians, coordinating with Service Advisors, and ensuring productivity and quality.

We offer a competitive base salary up to £30,750 with a £40,000 OTE, 31 days holiday (rising to 33 with service), a pension, staff discounts, and strong career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in automotive workshop environments.
• Experience as Workshop Controller or Senior Technician.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Allocate work to Technicians, ensuring efficiency and quality.
• Liaise with Service Advisors to manage workflow and inform customers of delays.
• Monitor productivity to ensure timely completion of all jobs.
• Identify and resolve workshop issues promptly, keeping the team and customers updated.
• Support the workshop team to maintain high standards of work.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Allocating work to Technicians, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are consistently met
• Liaising with Service Advisors to manage workflow and keep customers updated on any delays
• Monitoring productivity to ensure all work is completed within agreed timeframes
• Identifying and resolving workshop issues quickly, keeping both the team and customers informed
• Supporting the workshop team to deliver a high standard of work at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience within the automotive industry (Workshop Controller or Senior Technician level)
• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills across departments and with customers
• A proactive leader who can motivate and support a team to hit targets
• A professional, solutions-focused approach
