Job summary

Holdcroft is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to oversee the day-to-day running of our Renault Hanley workshop. You will coordinate technicians, allocate work, and ensure repairs meet manufacturer standards, on time and to a high quality.

We offer a basic pay of £40,000 with an OTE of £50,000, a highly competitive salary with a performance-related bonus, 31 days holiday, training and career progression within a growing motor group.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, or Workshop Supervisor.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a busy workshop team.

Responsibilities

• Plan, allocate, and monitor workshop jobs to maximise productivity.
• Ensure work is completed to manufacturer standards and deadlines.
• Motivate the technician team to meet productivity and quality targets.
• Monitor workshop performance and utilisation.
• Provide accurate repair updates and completion times with Service Advisors.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer and company standards.
• Assist with technical queries and support technicians as needed.
• Maintain health and safety standards in the workshop.
• Manage workshop capacity and prioritise urgent repairs.
• Drive customer satisfaction through efficient workshop operations.

Job Title: Workshop Controller
Location: Renault, Hanley
Salary: Basic pay £40,000 with an OTE of £50,000
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30-17:30 & Alternative Saturday mornings
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to oversee the day-to-day running of our busy workshop. You'll coordinate the technician team, allocate work efficiently, and ensure repairs are completed to manufacturer standards, on time, and to the highest quality. Working closely with Service Advisors and management, you'll help drive productivity, efficiency, and outstanding customer service.

Your Role

• Plan, allocate, and monitor workshop jobs to maximise productivity and efficiency
• Ensure work is completed to manufacturer standards and within agreed deadlines
• Support and motivate the technician team to achieve productivity and quality targets
• Monitor workshop performance, efficiency, and utilisation
• Liaise with Service Advisors to provide accurate repair updates and completion times
• Ensure all workshop processes comply with manufacturer and company standards
• Assist with technical queries and support technicians where required
• Maintain high standards of health and safety within the workshop
• Manage workshop capacity and prioritise urgent repairs where necessary
• Help drive customer satisfaction through efficient workshop operations

About You

• Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, or Workshop Supervisor
• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate a busy workshop team
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across departments
• Experience working to manufacturer standards and KPIs
• Computer literate with experience using dealer management systems
• Full UK driving licence
