Duties of a Workshop Controller:
- Oversee daily workshop operations including load management and capacity planning to maximise productivity
- Allocate work effectively according to technician skills and workload
- Monitor and improve workshop efficiency and utilisation during each shift
- Lead, motivate, and develop technicians through coaching and performance management
- Manage workflow to ensure smooth job progression and minimise delays
- Maintain high service quality standards and customer satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards, warranty procedures, and health and safety regulations
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the workshop
- Build strong working relationships with the service team to optimise customer experience
Requirements of a Workshop Controller:
- Proven experience as a Workshop Controller within a franchised dealership environment
- Demonstrable record of improving workshop productivity and efficiency
- Strong understanding of workshop planning, labour management, and workflow optimisation
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate and influence a team of technicians
- Knowledge of warranty processes and manufacturer systems is desirable
- Previous management or leadership qualifications are advantageous
- Customer-focused approach with strong commercial awareness
