Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Mechanical Technician for the Ashford Common site (TW15 1RU). You will inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and electrical equipment to keep sites operational and safe for customers.

The role requires a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, strong problem-solving, and good communication. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical systems or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
• Problem solver capable of identifying issues and implementing solutions.
• Excellent communicator with internal and external staff and contractors.
• Able to work with minimum supervision and take initiative to design to standards.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment.
• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance to improve plant resilience.
• Provide technical advice and training to the wider team as needed.
• Work on pumps and mechanical equipment used for water transfer and treatment.
