Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Ashford Common site (TW15 1RU). The role involves inspecting, maintaining, fault-diagnosing, testing, installing, and repairing mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment with minimal supervision to ensure site operation.

You should be a time-served apprentice with significant mechanical experience or NVQ/C&G level 3. A full UK driving licence is essential, with a standby rota after training.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with experience in mechanical systems or NVQ/C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering.
• Able to identify issues and implement solutions.
• Excellent communicator with internal and external staff and contractors.
• Resilient and adaptable in a changing environment.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate on pumps and mechanical plant involved in water transfer and chemical dosing.
• Investigate mechanical plant failures and repair quickly to minimise customer impact.
• Diagnose complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.
• Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical equipment per company standards.
• Provide technical advice to the wider team and support trainees when required.
• Participate in a 24/7 standby rota after training.
