Job summary

Cygnet Kenney House in Oldham, part of Cygnet Health Care, is seeking a Ward Manager (RMN) to lead and oversee ward delivery for women with mental health needs. The role is based at Greater Manchester (OL8 area) and requires managing an in-patient ward with a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

You will drive improvement strategies, ensure high standards of nursing practice, and lead audits while promoting patient recovery and risk management within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in an in-patient setting.
• Proven leadership and change management skills.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act and nursing practices.
• Ability to lead, audit, and implement action plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager for ward development.
• Contribute to ward visits by professional visitors.
• Initiate and maintain a monitoring system for nursing practice including PINs and registrations.
• Ensure service delivery is patient and carer focused.
• Advise non-clinical staff on management of patients with mental illness.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and adherence to policies.

We are looking for a confident Ward Manager (RMN) who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care.

You’ll be working40 hours a week(Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm) atCygnet Kenney House.

Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. The services provide a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health need and are now open.

We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home. There are three wards at Cygnet Kenney House; Billington Ward, a 12 bed specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Baldock Ward, a 16 bed Acute service and Harben Ward, a 16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service.

The PICU and Acute environments offer rapid access to care, supporting women to move quickly and safely through to the most appropriate and least restrictive setting. The mental health rehabilitation and recovery ward (level 2) supports individuals moving on from the Acute ward, as well as external referrals from other services such as secure, CAMHS, and more.

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.
