Job summary

Cygnet Kenney House in Oldham is seeking a confident Ward Manager (RMN) to lead and inspire the inpatient psychiatric ward and oversee delivery of compassionate care across the unit.

You will manage staff, drive continuous improvements, ensure adherence to policies and the Mental Health Act, and collaborate with NHS partners to support women’s mental health pathways. The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Registered Mental Nurse with an active NMC pin.
• Experience managing inpatient mental health wards.
• Strong leadership and staff development skills.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a confident Ward Manager (RMN) who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care.

You'll be working40 hours a week(Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm) atCygnet Kenney House.

Cygnet Kenney House is our hospital for women, located in Oldham. The services provide a safe and secure care pathway for women with mental health need and are now open.

We have collaborated with the NHS to develop services to support women from the North West to be treated closer to home. There are three wards at Cygnet Kenney House; Billington Ward, a 12 bed specialist Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Baldock Ward, a 16 bed Acute service and Harben Ward, a 16 bed mental health rehabilitation and recovery service.

The PICU and Acute environments offer rapid access to care, supporting women to move quickly and safely through to the most appropriate and least restrictive setting. The mental health rehabilitation and recovery ward (level 2) supports individuals moving on from the Acute ward, as well as external referrals from other services such as secure, CAMHS, and more.

Your day-to-day

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness
• Ensure patients' rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.

You are

• Committed to delivering improvement strategies across all aspects of clinical service provision
• Familiar with an in-patient setting
• Experienced in managing change, leadership initiatives, motivating & developing othersOpen, compassionate, honest & resilient
• Capable of undertaking audits, developing, following-up & ensuring completion of action plans
• Well-informed of the Mental Health Act & the latest nursing practices
• Focused on patient recovery to monitor, manage & reduce risk.
