Job summary

Cygnet Health Care in Derbyshire is seeking a professional Ward Manager to lead the Upper Ward at Cygnet Acer Clinic. You will oversee a 28-bed mental health service for women, driving recovery-focused care and ensuring safety and compliance. The role involves audits, staff development, and liaising with families, referrers and the Hospital Manager.

Working hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, with DBS checks and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• In-patient setting experience preferred.
• Leadership and staff development experience.
• Ability to drive improvement and change initiatives.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act and best nursing practices.
• Commitment to patient recovery and safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward.
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors.
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff.
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user-based (patients, carers & families).
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness.
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & policies are adhered to.

You’ll be working40 hours a week(Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm on Upper Ward)atCygnet Acer Clinic.

Cygnet Acer Clinic is a 28 bed service providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women with personality disorder and complex needs or acute mental health needs.

Upper Ward:

Acer Upper is a mental health acute service for women, based at Cygnet Acer Clinic in Derbyshire.

The ward provides assessment and treatment for women experiencing a mental health crisis who require an emergency admission.

Our team works closely and collaboratively with service users, their families and the referrer to provide a seamless pathway from referral to discharge.

Our approach is recovery focused and supported by a comprehensive multidisciplinary team, contributing to shorter lengths of stay.

We also benefit from a highly specialised personality disorder service on site, and can offer a pathway for women that may require an extended therapy programme.

Your day-to-day…
