Job summary

Cygnet Group in Bury is seeking a professional Ward Manager to lead and inspire the delivery of high‑quality mental health care within an inpatient ward. You will work 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8am–4:30pm, and oversee daily operations on the ward at Cygnet Bury Hudson.

You will drive service improvement, monitor clinical practice, and support staff while safeguarding patient rights under the Mental Health Act. A compassionate, resilient leader is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in an inpatient setting is required or highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and current nursing practices.
• Ability to lead, inspire and develop others while driving service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide suggestions and recommendations to the Hospital Manager for ward development.
• Participate in planned ward visits by professional visitors and monitor professional nursing practice locally.
• Ensure evaluation of service delivery is patient- and family-centered.
• Advise non-clinical staff on management of patients with mental illness.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and adherence to Cygnet Health Care policies.

We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Managerwho can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care.

You’ll be working40 hours a week(Monday to Friday 8am – 4:30pm)atCygnet Bury Hudson.

Cygnet Bury Hudson providesa wide range of securemental health services for men including individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

Each service user has a bedroom with en suite facilities and a range of communal spaces including a gym, laundry, occupational therapy kitchen, therapy garden and woodland walkways down to the Elton Reservoir.

Your day-to-day:

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward.
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness.
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.
