Job summary

Cygnet Delfryn House in North Wales is opening early 2027 and seeks a professional Ward Manager to lead the new low secure service for women. You will oversee clinical delivery, drive improvement, and ensure safe, therapeutic care with strong risk management.

The role requires in-patient experience, leadership, and a patient-centered approach to support recovery while adhering to policy and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in an in-patient setting.
• Strong leadership and change management capabilities.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and current nursing practices.
• Focus on patient recovery and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee ward delivery of care.
• Provide recommendations to the Hospital Manager for ward development.
• Participate in planned ward visits by professional visitors.
• Monitor nursing practice and staff registration at unit level.
• Ensure patient confidentiality and policy adherence.
• Audit and follow up on action plans to improve care.

We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Manager who can lead, inspire & oversee the delivery of the very best care at our new service opening early 2027, Cygnet Delfryn House.

Cygnet Delfryn House is our new Low Secure service for women in North Wales. We support women across two wards, specialising in mental health and personality disorders. The service is due to open in early 2027 and is accepting referrals now.

All of our secure services aim to monitor, manage and reduce risk in a safe and therapeutic setting, in order to help individuals progress towards more independent living.

Your day-to-day…

• Provide suggestions, proposals & recommendations to the Hospital Manager aimed at the continued development of the ward
• Contribute & participate in planned visits to the ward by professional visitors
• Initiate & maintain a monitoring system in relation to professional nursing practice at unit level, including pin numbers & the current registration of all qualified staff
• Ensure that the evaluation of service delivery is user (i.e. patient, carer & family) based
• Advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on management of patients with mental illness
• Ensure patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected & that Cygnet Health Care & professional policies are adhered to.
