A leading home furnishings retailer in the West of England seeks a Visual Merchandiser to inspire customers via innovative product displays. The candidate will enhance store presentation, collaborate with design teams, and adapt to local market demands. Job description

IKEA Bristol are looking to welcome a Visual Merchandiser to their team. We are looking for people who are driven to provide inspiration to our customers by demonstrating their knowledge of life at home and how the IKEA product range can solve their furniture, storage, and organisational needs. You are a team player who has the ability to challenge yourself and colleagues in strengthening the IKEA Brand. You are focused on implementing solutions that prioritise and deliver long‑term growth/profitability for the business. A Visual Merchandiser at IKEA designs and maintains attractive product displays, implements store layout plans, collaborates on merchandising strategies, and stays updated on home furnishing trends.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Start date: 23rd February 2026
  • Starting salary pro‑rated for part‑time hours is ££27,540 per annum, based on competence and experience (full‑time equivalent salary is £26,401 per annum). Please note there is scope at.
  • 39 hours a week working 5 days per week, Monday to Friday, with working 1 in 5 Sundays expected as part of the role. Availability to occasionally work late evenings, weekends, and night shifts is required. Shifts may change according to business/project need.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
  • Relevant design/merchandising qualification (not essential but ideal), strong understanding of the design process and hands‑on experience in retail design or visual merchandising.
  • A working knowledge in design software such as Autocad or REVIT.
  • You are excited about home furnishings, design and how people live, and have the ability to generate new ideas to inspire our customers.
  • Ability to learn quickly, make informed decisions at pace, and consistently deliver on commitments, with a strong understanding of— or the capacity to rapidly develop knowledge of—retail equipment and racking within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Confident, hands‑on approach, working comfortably with a range of hand tools and at height. Collaborates effectively with carpenters and external service providers, and is happy working across the shopfloor in a retail environment to support day‑to‑day operational needs.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
  • Use visual merchandising competence to strengthen the uniqueness of the IKEA identity in range presentation solutions in the store by working with store layout, range presentation and vitality.
  • Understanding the local market to plan and implement relevant, inspiring, affordable and commercial range presentation solutions that reflect a wide variety of styles, price levels, meet the many individual tastes and exceed our visitor's expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Communication & Interior Design team and other functions, act quickly to exploit commercial opportunities and understand the impact of actions on the financial results.
  • Working with the commercial calendar to implement range changes.
