The Vice President of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic and day-to-day operations of transportation services across multiple business units. This role ensures that services are delivered safely, efficiently, and on-time, while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. A key focus of the role is helping our drivers, monitors, and operational leaders succeed in their roles through clear direction, support, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all daily operations across multiple regions and transportation business units through a team of regional directors, general managers, and operations staff.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, DOT standards, and industry best practices to deliver safe and reliable service.
- Provide strategic direction and executional leadership aligned with the organization’s goals, focusing on performance, service quality, and operational scalability.
- Drive accountability for meeting and exceeding key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time performance, customer service metrics, cost efficiency, and safety benchmarks.
- Own and manage the full P&L for assigned operations, including budget creation, cost control, revenue growth, and margin improvement.
- Partner with Finance and executive leadership to monitor financial performance, conduct variance analysis, and implement corrective actions to meet fiscal goals.
- Champion operational initiatives, new program rollouts, and change management efforts across the field.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational discipline through strong communication and employee engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between field operations and corporate departments (HR, Safety, Fleet, Compliance, etc.), ensuring alignment and collaboration.
- Develop and implement retention strategies to support a stable, skilled workforce.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, client meetings, and community events as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive management experience, preferably in the transportation, logistics, or mobility services industry.
- Minimum of five (5) years in a senior leadership or multi-unit operations management role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA, MA, MS) preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex operations with full P&L accountability.
- Deep knowledge of the transportation industry, including regulatory and safety requirements.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, build high-performing teams, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
