Job summary

Vets Now is seeking a Sunday Veterinary Nurse in Preston to join our weekend team. The role is paid up to £17 per hour depending on experience and includes weekend shifts from 12:00 to 22:00 every other Sunday, plus a fair share of bank holidays.

This position provides an opportunity to expand ECC knowledge, support triage, surgery and in-patient care, and participate in CPD opportunities within a leading national emergency veterinary group.

Qualifications

• RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
• Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
• Passionate about caring for clients and their pets.
• Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage and in-clinic nursing support.
• Assist with surgery, anaesthesia and in-patient care.
• First Aid advice over the phone and in-clinic.
• Monitor and manage critical care and post-op recovery.
• Perform basic diagnostics as needed.

Understanding your key role

Our nursing team are at the core of clinical treatment including triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care. Key responsibilities will include:

• First Aid – give appropriate advice over the phone and perform in clinic.
• Critical Care – management and monitoring of major body systems, monitoring of in-patient trends and identifying changes quickly, physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound and dressing care.
• Diagnostics - confident to perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.
